About the YAC
Mission Statement
The Yorktown Athletic Club, Inc. is a self-funded, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing organized youth sports programs for the social enrichment of its members and the broader Yorktown community. We offer both recreational and travel programs, thoughtfully designed to be age-appropriate and to ensure all team members have opportunities to participate. The YAC upholds the principle of “Honoring the Game,” asserting that winning is always secondary to fostering true sportsmanship—showing respect for teammates and opponents alike, and celebrating the enjoyment and challenge of competition.
- Established Legacy: Founded in 1948, the YAC has served our community for over 75 years. Today, we comprise approximately 1,500 family members and more than 2,500 program participants.
- Program Offerings: We provide a comprehensive array of youth sports, including, but not limited to: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Wrestling, Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse, Girls’ Softball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading.
- Facilities & Partnerships: Our programs utilize the fields and facilities of the Yorktown Parks & Recreation Department and the Yorktown Central School District. While we operate within their policies and procedures, these entities do not administer our programs.
- Community Leadership: All leadership roles—sports commissioners, division coordinators, and coaches—are filled by the elected Executive Board of the YAC. We ask that you respect the time and energy these individuals devote to the YAC and offer your assistance when called upon.
- Engagement & Support: To contact any Club leader, please visit the “Contacts” section at playyacsports.com and select the appropriate position. Because these roles are fulfilled by fellow members in their own time, responses may require up to several days.
- Ongoing Involvement: Active families are invited to attend at least one general membership meeting each year to raise concerns and suggest improvements. During each meeting, a single family member may address the assembly during a three-minute public comment period.
- Official Website: For comprehensive information on policies, procedures, and program details, please visit our official homepage at playyacsports.com.
We welcome and appreciate your participation—together, we strengthen our programs and enrich the experience of every young athlete
