About Basketball
The YAC Basketball Program has over 600 players participating in grades 2 through 12 in Yorktown Heights, NY.
Players are introduced to basketball through the Pee Wee Division for 2nd graders. The players participate in a clinic like environment and scrimmage at the end of each session.
3rd and 4th graders play in the Bantam Division. They practice one night a week and play one game a week on Saturdays. The games are played with smaller basketballs (28.5") on regulation 10 ft. rims.
The Junior (5th - 6th Grade) and Senior (7th - 8th Grade) Divisions are comprised of 12 to 16 teams with 10 players per team. These divisions have player evaluations as well as a player draft that is usually conducted in late October or early November. Practices are held one weeknight each week and games are played once a week on Saturdays. Standings are kept and there are playoffs at the end of the year.
The High School Division is for players in grades 9 through 12. There is one game a week played on Sunday afternoon or evening and no practices.
The YAC also sponsors Travel Basketball teams for Grades 4 through 8. Teams play in the Tri-County Basketball League (TCBL) and / or Tri-State Basketball Super League (TSBSL) at the Brewster Sports Center and play regular season games from November through March. Teams also participate in tournaments during the season, as well as year-end playoffs. Playing time on travel teams is up to each team's coach and playing time is not guaranteed to each player.
The YAC Basketball Program has over 500 players participating in grades 2 through 12.

Travel Basketball Program
A Guide for Parents
What is Yorktown Travel basketball?
YAC travel basketball is a competitive level for players who want to develop their skills and play against other teams from different towns. Travel basketball requires a higher level of commitment, dedication, and skill than recreational basketball. Travel basketball teams are based by grade. YAC has teams 4th through 8th grades. Tryout notifications are sent via email in September and are held in October. Teams are typically announced in early November. The travel season starts in November and concludes in mid-March. All travel teams are registered to play in TCBL (Tri-County Basketball League) and may opt for another league or tournament based on the coaches’ decision. Teams' roster sizes are typically 10-12 players but may vary by grade.
What are the benefits of travel basketball?
