Boys Basketball Travel

Yorktown Boys Travel Basketball Program

Yorktown Travel teams is a competitive basketball program for students in grades 4th to 8th, who live within the same town or school district boundaries.

  • Registration and Tryouts Process: The registration emails are sent out in September, and applicants must select their grade level as of September 1st. Falsifying information will result in disqualification. Tryouts are held in October, and players are evaluated by independent evaluators. Only one of the two tryout sessions needs to be attended. Players must play within their grade and cannot "play up".
  • Team Composition and Coaching: Each team typically consists of ten or more players, one Head Coach, and one assistant coach. The coaches are responsible for enrolling the teams in the Tri-County Basketball League (TCBL) and the Brewster Super League, as well as scheduling practices and games. Coaches need to apply and will be interviewed to see if they are qualified to coach. Returning coaches need reapply as well.

  • Season Duration and Game Frequency: The season runs from November through March, including playoffs. Home games are played on the weekend, and away games depend on the availability of the other teams' gyms. Travel teams can play between 25-30 games, including tournaments, solely at the coach's discretion.
  • Program Cost and Uniform: The cost per player ranges between $350 - $450 and includes gym time, referees, and league fees but does not cover uniforms. Uniforms are purchased separately by the players.

Our travel teams follow the TCBL player eligibility rules below:

  • Eligibility Criteria for TCBL: To be eligible to participate in TCBL, players must meet the following criteria:
    • Players participating in a Town Team must reside within the geographical boundaries of the same town.
    • Players participating in a School District Team must reside within the geographical boundaries of the same public school district.
