Travel Basketball Information

YAC Girls Basketball travel teams are governed by the Hudson Valley Travel Basketball League rules and regulations. Travel players must attend or be eligible to attend Yorktown Schools. Travel teams are offered to girls in the 4th through 8th grades. Typically, each team is composed of one grade only. Prospective players attend tryout sessions and are assessed by a group of evaluators selected by the club.

Travel teams practice twice per week. League play typically begins in November and runs through mid-March.  Games can be at night during the week or on the weekend.  There are usually 12-14 regular season games, followed by playoffs.

The 4th, 5th & 6th grade travel team members are also required to participate in the In-House program. Travel players in the 7th and 8th grades are encouraged to also play on an In-House team. 7th and 8th grade travel players must decide prior to the In-House evaluation sessions whether or not they will be playing In-House. If so, they are expected to attend the evaluation session for placement purposes and make a commitment to attend their In-House team’s practices and games.

Travel team fees vary from approximately $400-600 depending on team budgets.  This fee covers the cost of league registration, gym space, training, insurance, and referees. There may be an additional fee for uniforms.

Travel players who participate in the In-House program pay a registration fee of $200 for the In-House program. This fee covers the costs of gym space, referees, insurance, and the team shirt.
